Patron Comments at Board Meetings

The Board of Education welcomes comments from its community. A period for public comment is set aside at each regular Board of Education meeting. In an effort to provide an environment for effective public comment at meetings, the Fox C-6 School District Board of Education has adopted the following protocols for public comment:

Patrons must complete the Public Comments Information sheet.

Problems involving particular/identifiable employees and/or students are reserved for executive session.

Per Fox C-6 District Policy BDDH, only items from the posted agenda may be discussed.

The speaker will be solely responsible for his/her statements. The Board does not accept any obligation or liability for the words or actions of any speaker. Any Board member shall interrupt or stop the speaker at any time if it is deemed the matter should be heard in executive session.

The speaker must be a resident or employee of the school district. Proof of residency may be required at the Board’s discretion. A non-resident may address the Board by contacting the Superintendent or Board President and asking to be placed on the agenda.

Any resident who wishes to speak shall submit a specific outline of their remarks to Andy Waterman, Director of Communications, standing at the computer near the risers or to (WatermanA@foxc6.org) The Board shall determine whether the speaker will be heard.

The timeframe for submission for patron comments will be from the time a Board meeting agenda is posted until 6:45 pm on the evening of the meeting. Patron comment forms will be accepted via email (WatermanA@foxc6.org) until 2:00 pm the day of the meeting and from 6:15 pm until 6:45 pm in person the evening of the meeting. The Board shall determine whether the speaker will be heard.

Patron comments will be heard by the Board of Education in the order they were submitted prior to the meeting.

A maximum of 30 minutes at the beginning of each meeting will be allocated for public comments (Per Policy #BDDH).

A three-minute time period will be allowed per speaker. A warning will be given after two and one-half minutes. The Vice-President of the Board will be the time keeper.
