Like many other districts in our area, our English Language Learner population at the Fox C-6 School District is growing. As our population becomes more linguistically diverse, we continue to provide excellent services to our students and their families. We continue to challenge our learners by providing academically rigorous instruction.  At Fox C-6 we encourage our students to understand and value diversity.   We also honor the multiple cultures and languages that are represented in our community.  

Program Description

• Instruction provided in students' home schools
• Individualized as well as group instruction
• Assistance within the regular classroom

Direct ELL Services

The student will be able to get the support necessary to be productive in a daily classroom setting.  The ELL teacher will work directly with content area teachers to provide support for students. Various accommodations are also used to assist the students.

Monitored ELL Students

The student will be monitored by the ELL teacher to ensure the student is maintaining a healthy and productive academic lifestyle.  The student has proven that he/she is able to function productively in a regular classroom setting and is monitored by an ELL teacher to make sure criteria toward program departure are being met.

1. Promote student acquisition of English as a tool for reflection, imagination, and critical thinking.
2. Develop both cognitive academic language proficiency and interpersonal language skills.
3. Develop proficiency in the domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
4. Encourage participation in a full range of activities in an instructional setting, as well as, an extracurricular setting.
5. Ensure that all the staff members in our educational community assume responsibility for the acculturation and instruction of our ESL students.
6. Facilitate family involvement in school activities.
