• ABOUT

The Fox C-6 School District covers an area of 75 square miles and utilizes 17 school buildings to educate nearly 11,500 students. As part of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan, the community has identified the need to examine boundaries as a priority. In Fall 2016, an Attendance Boundary Committee was formed of parent representatives from each of the district's 19 feeder pathways.

The committee met through January 11th, 2017.

  • EXPECTED OUTCOMES

Routine examination and adjustment of attendance boundaries is necessary for any school district to maintain equitability for students. The Attendance Boundary Committee has the following goals:

    Attendance Boundary Goals

    1. Balance Middle School Enrollments
    2. Balance Elementary School Enrollments
    3. Consider and Plan for Enrollment growth and/or Enrollment shifts
    4. Maintain or Improve Efficiency of Student Transportation
    5. Simplify the Feeder Pathways

    THE PROCESS

    • Adjusting boundaries was a priority outlined by the committee throughout the Comprehensive School Improvement Planning (CSIP) process. All members of the community were invited to participate and provide input in this process to develop a final plan for the district over the next five years.

    • At the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year, the District began communicating its efforts to meet two major priorities of the CSIP by examining sixth grade and attendance boundaries.

    • In late October and early November, principals selected representatives from each of their feeder pathways to serve on an Attendance Boundaries Committee.

    • This committee met from November 2016 through January 2017 to examine potential changes to Fox C-6 boundaries.

    • Attendance Boundary Committee was presented with several proposal ideas.

    • Committee provided input and feedback toward the development of a final plan.

    • Final proposal was presented to the committee in January for final conversation. In an exit slip from that meeting, 97% of the committee agreed or strongly agreed that Administration listened to the committee’s feedback in making its final proposal. 100% of committee members agreed that the proposal met the goals of the committee.
